I'm on a roll!

Short entry tonight.

Things are good. Three-year-old is behaving. It's incredible. So much fun. So pleasant. Part of me is waiting for the other shoe to drop, but nonetheless enjoying it while it lasts. My two-year-old is still being a bit fussy, but somehow, her attitude just cannot compare to her sister's, no matter how hard she tries.

One thing - I'm so happy they have each other. Growing up, I'd always wanted a sister. When I was just turning 11, my parents announced they were adopting a baby - and though I love my brother, at the time, I sooooooo wished they were getting me a little sister instead. Many friends of mine had sisters, yet for the most part, they were no closer than my older brother and I. Yet I just had this mental image that having a sister would be about playing together all day, and having pajama parties every night.

Fast forward 15 years later and somehow I haven't given up on my little sisterly nirvana. And it looks like my wish has come through for my daughters.

They are the best friends ever. Sure, they argue over stupid things, and egg each other on. But they play together for hours. I get such a kick out of watching them play their pretend games together (their favourite these days is "let's go visit" where they pretend to go visit relatives and family friends. They even get the dog all dressed up to go see his "friends"!)

And nothing warms my heart more than when they ask to sleep together. I can't refuse, even on a weekday. So tonight, even though I knew it would take them longer to fall asleep, and that it might mean I miss my weekly dose of Ed's Up, I couldn't say no when they piled into my three year old's bed, each with a doll, stuffed dog and a pile of books. I did warn them several times to keep the chatter down to a dull roar. But truth be told, they could have gone on all night as far as I was concerned. They are so lucky, and I can't bring myself to put an end to them living out my biggest childhood wish.

Just don't tell them that!

aaaw, that sounds so sweet! My boys sleep together all the time and are quite good friends, considering the age gap. Maybe dd sent up a little prayer for a sister, and that is how 2dd came along? Regardless, I'm really looking forward to their tea parties and pretend games. Something that doesn't involve ninjas! Oh, and I can send you pics as proof if you like ;)
