Maybe I can cheat on my challenges a little...

A co-worker and I were chatting the other day about one of my favourite shows, Ed's Up. This particular conversation took place after last week's episode (the alligator research centre, for anyone who follows the show).

It was the first episode of the season she and I had managed to catch, and we were commenting how Ed seems to be swearing less this year. The cynic in me wondered if this had anything to do with the fact the show seems to mostly be shooting in the U.S. this season (which I thought might be a way for them to try to sell the show to an American network) and knowing how U.S. channels feel about coarse language, I thought everything was related.

Then I saw this past Wednesday's episode and my theory was blown out of the water. Lots of beeping to be heard in that half hour.

Obviously, Ed can turn it on and off when appropriate (ie: in a lab with PhD's, less swearing. On a rig with manly-men, lots of swearing). Maybe that's an approach I should think of in my own challenges. Food for thought. Likely it would make my life easier.

Speaking of Ed's Up: I logged in to my e-mail last night to see a comment by the show's director! Who'd a thunk he'd read my blog! (OK, yeah, I'm trying to sound really cool, but I was like a school girl around the house when I read my e-mail last night. Hubby just rolled his eyes and hid in the basement until I calmed down). I know. I'm a nerd.

I realized I never updated my review of Kathy Reichs' last book. I posted that mid-book update last week. I'm pleased to report I didn't shed a single tear in the last part of the book. And Ms. Reichs is on the road to being in my good books again, after giving me some hope regarding possible future character development - but though the story was awesome (and I loved that she took us to a new location that was somewhat known to me - New Brunswick) I'm still not happy with the character-based story line overall in this book. But of course, I can't wait until the next book. It's that impatience/curiosity thing I wrote about yesterday.

I'm more than halfway through Lamb, so I'm taking recommendations for my next book. I'm on a real reading kick again.

Now for the rest of the evening, I'm throwing challenges to the wind and I'm off to drink and be merry with an old university pal and his new girlfriend.
